A ex-military leader of the UK's air and space warfare centre will report back next month on how the government-funded institute can most effectively assist the extent of national AI objectives in defense, national security and information gathering.
Operational Restructuring
The institute's chair, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, transferred out or finished because they aren't consistent with the fresh focus.
Workplace Issues
The center has faced organizational challenges since last year as staff protested against changes, culminating in a team of staff members filing a whistleblower complaint to the appropriate oversight organization.
