Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the tragedy, public individuals offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors recently. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an aide ought to have acted when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
