The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed instalment that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two producers whose work have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, daring sensibility to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
