Six Arrested Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects carrying high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the most recent prominent broad daylight robbery to hit the nation.

The bold operation was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities rapidly detaining the alleged criminals and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth €12 million (£10.5M), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the precious metals facility sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three of them were transported to hospital for assessment, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were present on-site when the thieves struck.

The suspects, thought to be seasoned offenders, were arrested shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female accomplice who participated in the robbery was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who employed explosive devices in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official declared on social media, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The heist took place as French police on the same day arrested five more suspects, featuring a main perpetrator, in relation to this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four thieves who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting equipment to access a gallery on the first floor at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, escaping with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, thieves last month entered illegally the Parisian museum of natural history, taking gold specimens valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona in relation to the burglary, officials confirmed.
