Shadow justice secretary the shadow minister has labeled the circumstances as a "total shambles," speaking this morning.

Speaking during a broadcast interview, he referenced remarks made by the justice minister after a recent inmate discharge, saying that Lammy would establish more robust checks.

"There was a delay of six days for the prison service supposedly to realize this has happened" and notify the police, Jenrick explains, "who are now a week late in the search to locate him."

The shadow minister condemns Lammy's performance during recent parliamentary questions and alleges him of a "complete failure in responsibility."

Addressing incorrect prison releases in broader terms, Jenrick emphasizes that "every single mistaken release [...] is unforgivable."

He admits there were similar incidents under the previous administration, but claims the number "has increased dramatically" under Labour.

Advocating additional correctional facilities to be built, he adds: "What the British people expect now are adequate safeguards put in place."

"That is a particular administrative failure by the justice department overseen by David Lammy," the opposition member says.
