Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
