The loved ones of teenagers lost after a devastating blaze at a bar in a Swiss winter destination are enduring an excruciating wait for official news and requesting clues about their family members publicly.

The blaze engulfed the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed footage depict the ceiling catching alight as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the fire, which killed 40 people and injured another over a hundred. A spokesperson stated on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to identify the remaining few.

In the waiting period, relatives have been posting on online platforms to appeal for information about their friends who were at the bar that fateful night.
