British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
